Strategic content development and distribution are essential for attracting and engaging target audiences. Effective content creation addresses audience needs, provides solutions, and subtly promotes the brand or its offerings. During the COVID crisis, despite the closure of Mystic Aquarium for nearly three months, we maintained audience loyalty by pivoting to daily live educational and entertaining content across website, social media, and email marketing platforms. This not only served our core audience but also became a valuable resource for educators and parents during homeschooling.
As The Florida Aquarium has gained prominence not only as a conservation-based aquarium but also as a community leader, thought-leaders within the organization were frequently asked to present to business, civic, and educational organizations. While each presenter had their area of expertise, delivering the overall message of The Florida Aquarium was critically important. The marketing team developed a standard PowerPoint presentation that could be used during all external presentations, providing a company overview, key brand messages, capital campaign and construction updates, financial performance, Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives, economic impact, educational engagement, and conservation advancements.
In today's digital era, content creation holds unprecedented significance. The evolving landscape of journalism has witnessed a profound shift, with social media emerging as a primary source for news consumption. Traditional newsrooms increasingly turn to social platforms to gather real-time updates and trending stories, recognizing the rapid dissemination and audience engagement potential they offer. As a result, content creators must adapt, ensuring that their content resonates effectively across social media channels to remain visible, relevant, and influential in shaping public discourse and perceptions.
Utilizing business intelligence, I helped implement the first email automation campaign for Foxwoods Resort Casino. Based on guests' hotel stays, gaming behavior, and food and beverage preferences, we began delivering highly personalized offers and timely content tailored to those individual preferences. We created automated email workflows that were triggered by hotel check-ins, swipes of their player cards, retail and entertainment ticket purchases, as well as dinner reservations and more. Trigger emails were sent one day, 14 days, three, and six months post-activity, depending on incremental visitation. We not only experienced an increase in open rates but also could specifically track conversion rates and sales. It also allowed us to begin AB testing in efforts to diversify gaming options.
