In the Zoo and Aquarium space, analytics revealed that optimal engagement wasn’t realized during the “typical” times of day. At both Mystic and The Florida Aquarium’s we shifted prioritized posts to 9pm, presumably when Mom’s – our target demographic- put their children to bed. We saw an increase in engagement by nearly 5%.
Departments outside of marketing may not fully grasp the strategic complexities of social media and may mistakenly equate it with personal social media usage, leading to unrealistic expectations of platform performance and resulting in impractical requests. At The Florida Aquarium, we implemented the 80/10/10 rule to align expectations with internal clients while delivering meaningful relevance and value to our target audiences in pursuit of our organizational objectives.
